Cand.scient. in IT Product Development

The purpose of our blog

0 Comments | This entry was posted on Mar 28 2011

Our blog has existed for a while now and we thought it was about time to write a little bit about the purpose of our blog. So what do we want to achieve with this blog?
The answer is several things. We use the blog for documenting and sharing projects from our work/study. The documentation is both for our sake, in order to remember the things we have made, and it is for others to read/see. We hope that other students and interested can draw inspiration from our projects and use them as concrete examples on how different technologies and design processes can be used (e.g. a concrete example of a cultural probe in our MuMiT project, which is most likely not found elsewhere).
Since most of our current projects are from our study, the blog also shows what we work with as IT students. Our projects shows how the IT study combines design with software and computer technology.
Last but not least the blog is also for promoting our group and show what we do and what we are able to accomplish. Therefore we have also added a list of courses we have completed in our “About” page, to give an idea of what kind of areas we have studied.
We hope that you may have as much fun reading and looking at our page as we have had developing the projects 🙂

Music Cubes in UNIvers

Now there is an article in the uni newspaper, called UNIvers, about our Music Cubes project and us. See the article here (it’s in danish though):

Music Cubes course

News about the future of Music Cubes!
We have accepted an offer of creating a course around Music Cubes in cooperation with two of our lecturers; Erik Grönvall and Marianne Graves Petersen. The course is based on our project and allows us to continue our work in the direction we find most interesting. We are currently investigating relevant research areas and domains for Music Cubes in order to make a course description and a work plan for the course, which will be in the Q4 this year. The result of the course will be a research paper for a conference, but we haven’t decided on the most relevant conference yet, since this depends on the litterature we will use. As a part of the course we will update this blog with news about our work – so please follow our progress which will hopefully begin before Q4 ; )

Akosta in english!

Howdy reader
As you may have discovered we have added the option of english instead of danish – the function can be found in the upper right corner of the page just below our RSS feed. This obviously means that our pages will soon be available in english, but we can’t make any promises on how long the translation will take since we are being kept occupied by our studies.
We have discussed whether future posts and pages will be available in both danish and english, and have considered only writing in english from now on but we have not reached a conclusion on this yet. If you have any thoughts on this matter please feel free to leave a comment – cheers 🙂

Problems with Prolific driver – Solution.

Hey
We are currently working on our Bachelor thesis where we are developing a TUI module for task status visualization. During this process we stumbled over a annoying problem with the Prolfic / LogiLink USB to serial (RS232) adapter which we wasn’t able to use on several Windows 7 computers resulting in the following error in device manager: “This device cannot start code 10 error”
After several hours of googling we found that the only driver working on W7 was the Windows Vista driver (v2.30) which can be downloaded from http://www.cooldrives.com/wividrforprc.html
Hope this saves all of you for a lot of wasted time 🙂

RHoK!!

RHoK står for Random Hacks of Kindness med undertitlen: Hacking for Humanity (http://www.rhok.org/).

Google Maps API v 3.0, JS, jQuery, JSON, Java Servlets.

What a nice way to spend a weekend
RHoK on!
